SEND Information

We are a large mainstream primary school with 413 pupils on roll. Currently, 19%

of our pupils have a Special Educational Need and/or Disabilities (SEND).

We have a higher number of pupils with additional needs than the national average

and a high number of our pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). 

Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Pam Cotter and our

Assistant SENDCo is Mrs Allison Holland. Governor with responsibility for SEND is

Mr Paul Meeks. We are a fully inclusive school with an ethos which is supportive of all

pupils in the endeavour of achieving their personal best. If you wish to contact the SEND

Our school provides for pupils with a wide range of SEND including those with:

Communication and interaction needs

 

This category includes pupils who have speech language and communication needs,

social interaction impairments and includes pupils who are on the Autistic spectrum.

Cognition and Learning needs

This includes pupils who have generalised cognitive delays and associated learning

difficulties and more specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Developmental

Coordination Difficulties (formerly Dyspraxia,) and Dyscalculia.

Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs

This category includes pupils who suffer from anxiety, or Attention Deficit

Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).

Sensory and/or Physical needs

This includes pupils who have sensory seeking or avoidant behaviours, visual

impairments, hearing needs, or a physical disability that affects their capacity to

learn and make good progress.

Medical Needs

Includes pupils with a whole range of medical conditions which require support in

school from medical professionals or services such as the School Health Nurse Team.
