Admission Arrangements
Information on Admissions to Bure Park Primary
If you are considering sending your child to Bure Park Primary School, the Headteacher and staff will be pleased to meet you. You and your children are also welcome to visit the school whilst it is in session at any mutually acceptable time. However, all admissions must be made to the Local Authority; see below.
Oxfordshire County Council School Admissions Team can be contacted on 01865 815175 or by emailing schooladmissions@oxfordshire.gov.uk Their website is www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/admissions.
In the Early Years Foundation stage children and parents are invited to a taster session in the summer before they are due to start.
Whenever possible we like to meet parents of new entrants well before the time they start school. An appointment may be arranged by telephoning the school or by writing to Emma Porter, the School Administrator.
Admissions
The criteria for admissions has been set down by the County Council and the school is required to adhere to this policy. Similar criteria are in place for both nursery and primary admissions and take into account both designated areas, (the Bure Park development,) and the presence of siblings in school. At the same time we endeavour to maximise the opportunity of parental choice.
At our school, it is also important to maximise pupil numbers to ensure the fullest resourcing of your child’s education. It is an important reflection of the ethos of the school that we seek to take into account the individual needs of each child, together with any relevant family circumstances.
Admissions will be as follows:
Main School
Those children whose fifth birthday falls between:
1st Sept and 31st August (inclusive) will start main school at the beginning of Term One (Sept)
Early Years Foundation Stage
Those children whose third birthday falls between:
1st Sept and 31st August (inclusive) will start (F2, Nursery) at the beginning of Term One (Sept) and will then move into F1, Reception, on a full time basis the following September providing they have applied for and been offered a main school place by the Local Authority.
Admission to Other Year Groups
If you require a place for your child during an academic year, this is classified as an in-year admission. In the first instance, you should contact Oxfordshire County Council for the relevant application form. They will then contact us to ascertain whether places are available or a waiting list in place.
