Bure Park Design and Technology Narrative

At Bure Park Primary School, we recognise the importance of Design and Technology, due to the practical nature of the subject, it develops children’s skills, teamwork and knowledge of the wider world. We endeavour to expand their imagination and creativity to investigate and question the world and develop an understanding of how different skills and products are manufactured to solve real problems in the world around them. The experiences through textiles, construction and nutrition we aim to give children the opportunity to express their ideas through design; to develop a range of skills in order to make a product and to be critical thinkers by evaluating their products against success criteria. Design and technology enables children to acquire a range of cross curricular skills through mathematics, computing, engineering and art where they are given the opportunity to develop their confidence to take risks and be resourceful and imaginative learners.
